In the summer of l97l, we acquired our first Standard Poodle, Loribon Charlie Powell, a black bitch. Charlie was certainly show quality but as we were looking only for a pet at that time, she was spayed and shown in Obedience. A short time later, Charlie's niece, Loribon Margaret of Wycliffe, came to live with us and we had our first show dog. Maggie was a great learning experience for novices such as ourselves. Two years later, Maggie's half brother, Loribon Friendly Persuasion, Barney, completed our household. Barney was also shown and although not finished to his championship, he became the sire of our first homebred champion and foundation bitch, Ch. Jay-En Livia of Greenwyn. Livie finished her championship before she was two years old. After genetic testing, she was bred to Ch. Kirsch's Rodeo of Halo, one of the greatest dogs of all time and a superb sire. She produced a litter of nine black puppies, including Ch. Greenwyn Head Games of Juel from whom all current Greenwyn Standards are descended.
Hedy was bred to Ch. Drasal Black Mr. Ree and produced eight black puppies and our first cream puppy. Hedy's daughters, Greenwyn Annabella and Ch. Greenwyn Juel Coalition both became Top Producers. Annie was bred twice to Ch. Chorus Line Gregory, T.P. and produced nine black champions, including Ch. Greenwyn Georgianna Ginevra, l994 Best Standard Puppy and Reserve Winners Bitch at the Poodle Club of America National Specialty show under esteemed breeder-judge Mrs. James Edward Clark. Georgie was shown as a special in l995, l996, and l997 and was in the top ten all three years, being the #3 Standard in the U.S. in l996.
Coal was bred first to Ch. Ascot on Request, l994 Winners Dog at the PCA National, and produced three champions from a litter of four: Ch. Greenwyn William Wyatt, Ch. Greenwyn Catarina Clarissa, and, our first brown, Ch. Greenwyn Roxana Robina. All three have produced champions of their own. Coal was then bred to Ch. Dalcrista's Eclipse and produced two bitch puppies, Ch. Greenwyn Fionna Fernanda and Ch. Greenwyn Madalena Martina, l997 Best Standard Puppy at the PCA National Specialty Show under breeder-judge Ms. Debra Cozart. Maddie was shown as a special on a limited basis in l998 and l999, finishing in the top ten each year. Fifi and Maddie both figure in our breeding program in the future, along with their relatives, Ch. Greenwyn Georgianna Ginevra, Ch. Greenwyn Jeremy Josiah, Ch. Greenwyn-Halo It Had To Be You, Ch. Greenwyn David Duncan, etc.
We are currently showing and breeding the seventh generation of Greenwyn Standard Poodles. We are very proud of the achievements of our dogs in the show ring: almost sixty champions to date, seven of them puppy champions, several close to finishing their championships, the puppies who are just starting out, and our nationally top-ranked specials. We are proud of our great stud dogs and brood bitches without whom there would be no Greenwyn Standard Poodles. We are also proud of the accomplishments of Greenwyn Standards in Obedience, Agility, and Therapy Work. We are grateful for the help and advice we have received from unselfish friends in dogs. But mostly, we are proud of and grateful for the wonderful, loving, intelligent, healthy, and beautiful dogs who have been a part of our lives for over thirty years.
While our main focus in the show ring has been attaining conformation championships, we are very proud of those dogs we have bred who have participated and earned titles in obedience and agility, including Ch. Greenwyn Jonathan James, Ch. Greenwyn John T. Chance, Greenwyn Cassiopeia, and Ch. Greenwyn Legend of Jay-En, among others. We also salute the achievements of our Canine Good Citizen dogs, including Ch. Greenwyn Marissa of Jay-En, Ch. Greenwyn John T. Chance, Ch. Greenwyn Jonathan James, Ch. Greenwyn Alexander of Lee, and Greenwyn Shadow Boxer, for the unselfish work they and their owners have done in the community, especially their visits to nursing homes and children's facilities. As a result of their training and our breeding of superb temperaments, a number of our dogs have been featured in the media as examples of what a Standard Poodle is truly capable of doing.
We salute and thank all our wonderful pet and show homes
